An Original Thought Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

An Original Thought

As my co-worker, you are an admiring friend.
You ask for my ideas; what would I recommend?
At the next team meeting, brains were storming.
Suddenly you suggested a plan that was informing.

All who hear are impressed with your sparks.
As for me, I hear an echo of familiar remarks.
An hour ago, while having a dining conversation,
I gave my views on how to improve expectation.

Now, I abruptly realize food of thought was consumed.
Our lunchtime chat was not as sociable as I presumed.
The next time you ask for a word of advice or direction.
I will recommend a mirror, for looking at your reflection.

Once again you pick an experience with which I think everyone can identify. I know I can. Your last line is truly original and a beauty as well as your leading up to it filled with emotion and lots of feeling.
