And I Rise Poem by Mehar Chauhan

And I Rise

And I rise
To close my eyes and walk
To my daily chores
Eat my breakfast-with my eyes closed-[whats to see there? ]
Walk on the street-with my eyes closed-[like my death would make any difference]
Work in the office-with my eyes definitely closed-[I work better this way]
Have my lunch-with my eyes closed-[whats to see there? ]
Look at the pretty girls-with my eyes almost closed-[I've closed them for so long, now it's difficult to open them-but I try]
Walk on the black beach-with my eyes closed-[It's the breeze there]
I close my eyes
Till I hit the bed
That is when I open my tired eyes
To dream
To tell you I carry out my work- Just fine
I eat, talk, smile-Just fine
I have my share of mistakes, I'm no exception
But that is just the thing going around, right?
