And One Other Thing Poem by Louise Marie DelSanto

And One Other Thing

Rating: 5.0

And one other thing,
she told me she liked
women and she lit a cigarette

The smoke surrounded her,
lifted above her head, and
I watched it form a haze,
an almost cloud,

I felt a sharp pain far
in the corner of my
right shoulder and,

I was holding her
in my arms again;
I was rocking her to sleep

Her eyes focused on mine,
she was listening
to my repetitive sing-song

There was a warm wind
a sudden burst of sun,
everything became slow
like a day you did not want to end

and I was listening. I was listening.
