And Slipped Away Once More Poem by guillermo veloso

And Slipped Away Once More

Because she was hungry
We shared wet cucumbers and creamy hummus
Because she was thirsty we
Shared a pint
Played pool
Cigarettes carelessly dangling
Because Tom Waits played
We danced slowly
Embraced as secret lovers
Because ee cummings was on the wall
I knew her hands were small
And slipped quietly away once more
