And The Soul Poem by J.M Berger

And The Soul

We’d sell our souls
Or take the wrong way home
Even though we know that we’ll get lost
Roll our die
Would we give faith a try? Were we beaten again and again,
Like a hanging slab of meat
Still we take our chances with these broken hearts
The pains we go to for our love
Time is money
But isn’t it funny?
How neither existed before us
Someone took a chance on us
Now granted, it was a gamble
But you’d have thought they were great odds
And his soul, it floats
Right past the others
And our souls, they’re rocked
Like toy boats in ocean waters
And my soul, it hopes
But that’s not enough, is it?
But I believe… that most people are decent.
