And You My Muse Poem by A Waltz For Zizi

And You My Muse

I am searching for you,
in the poems of others,
as mine, are flawed, and you are not.
But I still write, I did not stop,
wrapping ink around your ankles, to hold you on my page.
Without clinging to you, I would die. Without putting you on paper, I would be a waste of flesh.
I wouldn't be brave outside this paper, enough to live without ink.
Without these pages, I'd feel lonely, I wouldn't know what to do.
It would be a waste of words, not to put them on paper,
as a trail that leads strangers,
from me, to you.
Here, it's not your palm,
but is the best I can do for you now.
I'm not gonna force my love into your heart,
I'm going to be gentle to you.
I'm going to say goodnight, instead of kissing you,
though you are my muse.
I don't want to be your king, I want to be more,
I want to be kissed, and not always be the one that is kissing.
I hope you understand, I did my best, to be your poet, to put you on this page.
Without you, my poems wouldn't have words,
my lips, would still be searching for a kiss.
Without you, I wouldn't have a muse.
That's why I'm here, that's why I'm a 'poet'.
