Andalusia Murals Poem by JOHNNY COBB

Andalusia Murals

A part of Americana
when you're living in a small town...
Remember local history
as murals decorate downtown.

Andalusia has a Legend to tell
about a Spanish soldier and his horse.
You'll see where Hank Williams married Audrey
then there's a beautiful County Courthouse.

Afternoon visits to Riley's Drug Store
helped us pass the time away after school.
You'd see your friends at the Soda Fountain,
a favorite place to go and stay cool!

A mural shows Early Utilities
then you'll see cotton growing in the fields.
There are stages to making a dress shirt
from weaving to sewing it in the mills.

You'll learn about the Timber Industry
and how turpentine rosin gets its start.
Log rafts float down the Conecuh River
as you view historic pieces of art.

It's appealing to live in a small town
Where your neighbors are people that you know.
Friends will know who you're talking about
whether its David or Abbie or Joe.
