You were a bundle of joy in my arms
Sleeping peacefully while I held you close
Then you'd wake up and give your sweet smile
You never knew how it touched my heart.

It's been two years since I first set eyes on you
I'm proud of how beautifully you've grown
A beauty that's from inside out
With your childlike innocence, even more so.

A few more years and you'll know the real world
Day after day you'll try something new
I wish I can be there to protect you
But it's your life and you must learn it all.

The harshness of life may crush you sometimes
Realities may cause your values to change
Pray you'd be level-headed through it all
And come out a better person - a winner.

For now, the future seems a long way still
You are my child and will always be
Childhood comes only once in your life, enjoy it!
I'll try to be there for you...to talk to, to lean on...for always.
