Angel (The Poem For One) Poem by David Thomas

Angel (The Poem For One)

Rating: 2.7

to you this poem is for.
you've saved me from myself
so many times i reproached my Father
and spoke to him of my travels,
to his allknown ears he shed a tear
and hugged me firmly as his son

you are the lighthouse in the ocean
on my darkest of nights,
and when my days are at their longest
you are the quick stride and flow
below my tired feet.

you are my wings,
when these unsteady seas drag me
to their lightless bowels
You raise me up from my depressions
and take me away from all stress,
lovingly in your arms

Angel, you are the one i love most
and only as it is,
i gave you my guardian angel
and every ounce of prayer i've earned,
so that when you embark alone
you will be nothing but

And i know i may not follow
while you will not speak to me,
but Angel i love you
and there is no distance too great
or complication too harsh
for me to never make my way to you,

So be safe, please,
and when the time comes tell me of
how happy you've become
and i will smile gently,
before finally descending all the way
into the great seas you used
to save me from,
i will hold my hands out
my arms out,
as i shed all of my tears
held back for so long
my guardian protecting you will fade
with a soft loving kiss on your perfect cheek,
and a whisper of I Love You Forever.
