Angelica Poem by Linda Engwall

Rating: 5.0

I will never ever forget
That first day you and I met
You trying to hide behind a couch
Unable to control your giggles
Me nervous not sure how you would receive me
Who came to be your mother

Yet somehow I always knew the laughter was hiding your fear
How could you know
At five years old where you were going
How your life would change forever

I knew in an instant you would forever be part of my life
Even though we had never met before
You and I were meant to
Help each other by becoming
Mother and daughter

Not by biology
Of course
Am I your mother but I am in my heart
Certainly it has not be an easy road
We have traveled you and I

Some days
Not on my better days
I am uncertain on how it will all turn out
Will you forget me
Because you did not come from me

Will you search for those who look like you in the mirror
Or share your DNA

It isn’t that I don’t want you to find your life
As you see fit
Be happy
It is all I really ever wanted

Yet I want you know that it never
Matter to me whether you came from my body
I love you
And I always will
Even if our DNA doesn’t match

I am your mother
And you my dear are my daughter
Always and forever

dna may prove the physical, but will never alter the fact that the real parent is, the one that loves...10++++++++++++++++
