Another One Gone Poem by Steven Harris

Another One Gone

The news talks about another one that
has gone
gone into none existence
tears all around hitting the floor
people walking around, family and friends in the
sun with their head in their hands
sadness all around on a sunny day
but the world keeps moving
taxi drivers pick up their fair
bus drivers arriving late
nurses changing beds
labourers mix cement
man walks a French poodle
and a cafe cooks up more bacon
birds keep flying
worms keep wriggling
cats meow and dogs bark
babies throw the rattle out of the
pram
tides go in
and the sun comes up
the sun goes down
and the moon comes up
the world
this floating ball of air, water and
fire
keeps turning
keeps moving
people come in and out all day, every day
we all go into darkness
the clock stops ticking
but everything keeps moving.
