Anti-Coagulant Poem by Nathan Killeen

Anti-Coagulant

Blood flows out
From open wounds

I left myself behind

Dripping to the concrete
At my feet.

I had all I ever wanted once,
But I left from her for now,
Hoping to return.

And now I stand here bleeding
With nowhere left to turn.

Should I have left?
Would I do things all the same?

Yes I would,
Even if I could
Change my past today.

For if I had not left yesterday,
I’d wonder what I would be today.
