Anti-Valentine Poem by Ted Sheridan

Anti-Valentine

Rating: 4.5

She speaks of the old me....
the me that was always
fun and kept her laughing for hours
the man with whom
she fell in love
that man
the old me....
not this me....
The one she claims
(and I disagree)
I have become...
cantankerously stubborn
and politically partisan
a man who listens to talk radio
and never dances with her to the oldies
the man who listened
to the old her
but now always tunes out
the new her...
the new her
the her which is always nagging me
or complaining
about the disappearance
of the old me....
the me
that me which never really did exist
except in her head___

Good stuff, Ted... I really like the changing aspect of the relationship and the two different points of view. Brilliantly composed! Brian

Ok...I now think that my comments on the last poem were correct...but I'm always open to clarification. Nicely penned...with just the right amount of restraint, to not sound too angry. Good luck to you. Hugs, Dee
