Anticipation Poem by Brenda K. Gray

Anticipation

I had no idea that you were coming
Or that I was to expect you.
When they confirmed your reservation,
I was happy and a little afraid.
How do you receive one of your royalty?
One that demands and expects attention?
How would you feel about me?
Will we have our own means of communication?
Will we speak the same language?
Not knowing your exact arrival,
I had some good days and some bad ones.
The day that I was introduced to your 6lbs 13ozs,
All worries disappeared and nothing but love filled my heart.
Anticipation is worth the wait
When the one we'er expecting is You
