If you are content to play the allotted role
Without wondering if it would suit you
Accepting the judgement of authorities
You may enjoy success or suffer defeat
In either case, totally sealed is your fate
You may strut about as a hero or retire into a vacant lot
If you get what you want, you should be thrice blessed
Ethereal perfume has been poured upon you abundant
If a saint gloats over his laurels, he is no longer a saint
How can he rejoice, when his brethren lament their pitiful lot?
Is he any better than the Emperor Nero who played the lute
While Rome was altogether burning in sulfurous pit?
