Apart Poem by Benny John

Apart

It’s just another morning
Breaking eggs over the pan
Coffee spilling on the carpet
And I’m just another lonely man
Late in the night, when my pen broke down,
Somewhere on the road
While I was left stranded
Polishing my shoes from a bygone day,
Late in the night, when you tore me apart,
from you

Late in the night, as I collected the remains of the day
somewhere on a page,
As unwillingly as I could be
I spilled some drops from my pen
Late in the night, when you tore me apart,
from myself.
