Aplopelia Larvata Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Aplopelia Larvata

When I was young
I learned from books
the names of birds,
those creatures
of both earth and air.

And I was so confused
by all that knowledge
till on a path by chance
one late afternoon I heard
the song of a lonely lemon dove.
