Apology Poem by Toyo Esuola

Apology

Innocent acquaintance into mere friendship
and then more
Though short and abrupt, memories still lingered in
the hearts core

Coincidentally we meet again on the phone
Looking for who was to blame
In an unknowingly process, rekindling old flame
to ease the mental strain

But for my lack of fulfilling promises and appointments
I hurt you again

As it is now am realizing it is not what you
Promise, think or say, but what you do each day
Forgive me now is all I ask
cos changing old habits is not an easy task.
