Apology Poem by Erika Wingo

Apology

Rating: 4.8

The very moment after I'd spoken,
The second the words left my lips,
I wished with all of my heart
That I could take them back
Catch them mid-drift
within the space between us
On their way from me to you
Erase them from the atmosphere
But there are some things that
Once done,
You cannot undo

I went to bed
But not to sleep
Staring at your back in the dark
Regretfully
So many things on the tip
Of my tongue
Yet I remain silent
As the tears start to run
Repeating and replaying our last
Conversation in my head
I love you with all of my heart
And all that I am
I'm so sorry for saying the things that I said

Very nicely written, very correctly said..... there are certain things which once done can never be taken back like a) the words once spoken b) the time which is past c) love once broken etc, etc,

Written with ink that flows from the depths of the heart. A true treasure of tenderness and emotional intelligence. Wonderfully written my friend

It's a very nice poem. Your apologetic feelings are truly heart touching. 'But there are some things that Once done, You cannot undo' - Very true, but yet, honest words of apology sometimes compensates the damage to some extent.
