Apology (Of Sorts) Poem by Charlie F. Kane

Apology (Of Sorts)

I didn’t mean to hurt you.
I never did treat you bad,
And I’m sorry that it made you so sad.
I just tried to stay true to myself,
And somehow your feelings got caught
Under the wheels of a passing truck,
It took 3 men to pick you up again.
I’m not the villain of this piece,
But no misunderstood hero either.
I got given a part in a play I hadn’t read,
Then only as I walked out of the door
A voice told me I had a lead role
