As Darkness Brood Over Fate Poem by Vadakkumpurath Ramesan

As Darkness Brood Over Fate

The birds brood over
The sinking sun of dusk
As if heard herald from heavens
To the uncertain fate
Of Earth that boil
In the depth of the heart
Annoyed over the creation
Of man by mistake
The birds in a mood
Of melancholy chirped
On the dried up branches
Of a tree waiting
To be uprooted by a quake
Stood lost on Earth
Of the gone spring
Packed with green leaves
The flowers and fruits
Feeding men and birds
And celebrated life
To celebrate the spring
Of those that leaned on it
The birds in awe
Heard the roar from Earth's
Unabated peace less heart
That bore the volcano
That spew ash into air
As if in poignant mood
Of the ever lost past
Where men and birds
Sang together to urge
The Earth to sprout
The values and valour
In its creations
To keep the mother Earth
Revolve in rhythm
And give the vision
In the morning
The sun rising after bath
To make the creatures
Sang and dance
The birds brood over
Not the tomorrow
But the cold touch
Of the darkness
That open its Jaw
To swallow everything!
