As I Sit Here Poem by Orlando De Los Santos

As I Sit Here

As I sit here
I think of you
Your smile and the way it curves
The way your voice sounds
Like birds that chirp

I sit here writing you poetry
That one day you’ll hear
Like water in a cave
Echoing in your ears
My words that describe
How I feel

I want to tell you I find you
Beautiful in everyway
Like iron to a magnet
You attract me

I can get lost in your eyes
Like a child in the store
And listen to your voice like a soldier
At war

If you can sing
Sing for me
Cause it soothes my soul like
Aloe on a burn

Your eyes are sweet like honey
A pleasure to my eyes
As I sit here
I think of you
