As I Sit Here In Pain And Write These Words Poem by Shalom Freedman

As I Sit Here In Pain And Write These Words

As I sit here in pain and write these words
I tell myself it is only a minor pain
Two on the scale of ten
I can bear it-

But it bothers me
It wakes me at night
It makes my walking that I so once loved
Not pleasant-

It interrupts my thought
It makes me less patient with others
It simply bothers.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I write and forget it for a moment as I think about it
But it is waiting and the minute I have nothing to really be concentrated in
It will come back as it did already in the middle of the previous sentence.
