As Life Goes By



As life goes by
ever so slowly
I stand still
motionless as the trees
yet ever changing
as the past fades
and the future comes near
I just sit and watch
pain's grasp
holds me tight
fear overwhelms me
as the night arrives
I seek that comfort
one I could never have
as the whole in my heart digs deeper
and deeper...
as life goes by...
