As Long As You Poem by Francis Duggan

As Long As You

As long as respect to the feelings of others you pay
And you never hurt anyone in any way
And of those you don't like only truth of them say
As a person you are one who is doing okay
As long as you don't take it on yourself others to judge
And success of others you never begrudge
And never deliberately put anyone down
You can hold your head high as you walk in the town
As long as you do not find joy in another's downfall
And you uphold the truth in a fair go for all
And follow the guidelines of live and let live
And an insult against you be willing to forgive
Then 'tis only by good example you do lead
And you are a very good person indeed.
