As The Days Gone By Poem by Rodell Smith

As The Days Gone By

Monday through Sunday
I was waiting for you
But you never showed up
364 days passed by, but I’m not counting
As The Days Gone By

We have known each other for ten years
I heard you and mom screaming in the kitchen
You seemed mad and left
You told me you love me and when I am older I will understand
Well I am on the stairs waiting
As The Days Gone By

Many years passed by
I wrote to you and did not answer me back.
Many Father’s Days showed up and I never know what to do or give you
You have another wife and a new family
Well what about me
I still waiting
As The Days Gone By

At the family reunion I meet you
You looked surprised to see me
You said I’ve grown up
I really didn’t wanted to see you
I have gotten over you then said you said wanted to see me
Well I’m waiting
As The Days Gone By

Three years passed by
You lied to me
You said you wanted to see me I guess that will never happen
Since I saw you I missed you
I want us to be a family
Not you and some other people
I will be waiting for you
As The Days Gone By

One day you called unexpectedly
We meet somewhere and had a talk
You told me why you left and ask for forgiveness
I couldn’t forgive you
Then you told me you had cancer and you don’t have much time to live

Months pass by
I saw you on a hospital bed
I had came to visit
We talked and then I forgave you
He said “I love you and I always do”
Then in a few hours he died
I will be waiting for you.....
in heaven
As The Days Gone By
