As The Wise One Does Say Poem by Francis Duggan

As The Wise One Does Say

Though in fancy the past you do visit again
Memories of what was are all that we have to retain
But the now is all that does matter as the wise one does say
And at the stroke of midnight the past will be today
The fact of the matter and fact never lie
Is us humans are born as mortals and mortals do die
As we age we remember the past of our better days gone
Whilst life all around us as usual goes on
But memories of our good times can be quite a comforting thing
And joy to the mind it always does bring
Our unhappy times we do live to regret
But just like our good times them we do not forget
We can only live in the now as the wise one does say
And at the stroke of midnight the past will be today.
