Ask Cohen Poem by Mike Barrett

Ask Cohen

Dylan. Donavan.
Lennon. Lightfoot.
McCartney.

Where are they going?

Ask Cohen.

He's been there,
And back!

BUT

He's
Not the only
Wholly holy
Man among us!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Leonard Cohen has been one of my favorite poets since the mid '60s when I first discovered him. I read his 'Beautiful Losers' novel and then bought the albums he had on the market at that time. In his earlier songs it was clear to me he had 'the gift'; by his third album I felt that he had lost it and worked more through the mind that through Soul. Later in his life he reconnected with Soul and ITs beauty once again began to express itself through him.
