Ask The Oracle (Mum Is Sure To Know) Poem by Peter Wyllie

Ask The Oracle (Mum Is Sure To Know)

When life becomes confusing and you find yourself perplexed
And if a certain problem has left you feeling vexed
You need to find a listening ear to get it off your chest
And you need to find the answer that is going to work out best...
Even if you are uncertain, you know just where to go;
It’s time to ask the Oracle – for Mum is sure to know!

“There’s a bird I’ve never seen before; it has me quite enthralled.
If I can just describe it, can you tell me what it’s called?
My cakes have turned out soggy; my sponge is hard and flat,
And now I have a big red stain that’s soaking through the mat.”
I haven’t got a clue myself but I will not worry though;
It’s time to ask the Oracle – for Mum is sure to know!

“My climbing rose is looking sad and the leaves are turning brown;
I need to get a bank account the next time I’m in town;
I am going to a party and I don’t know what to wear
And I have to take a pudding that is big enough to share.”
When answers aren’t forthcoming and problems seem to grow;
It’s time to ask the Oracle – for Mum is sure to know!

Yes Mum has got the answers to all questions large or small
From gardening to cookery or papering a wall;
Provided that you heed it and do just as you’re told
Her advice is always timely and worth its weight in Gold.
So don’t be tardy asking her, go quickly, don’t be slow
It’s time to ask the Oracle – for Mum is sure to know!
