Assassinated Poem by Kay Brown

Assassinated

The night was dark
As she walked on and on

The scream pierced her ears
As she stopped to listen

Her neck felt cold
By the blade of the knife

Her breath came in a gasp
Her lungs were exploding

But the hand on her mouth
Was strong and unwavering

She saw her death coming
In the stream of blood flowing

Screaming her last scream
She fell to the ground

Welcoming the death
As the pain let her go

Her heart did not beat
Her lungs would not breathe

She was in the arms of Death
With no escape at all
