At Least You Stand For Something Good Poem by Francis Duggan

At Least You Stand For Something Good

Rating: 5.0

At least you stand for something good just going by what you say
And if everyone were like you we would not have wars today
Yet sad to think that those with all of the power are the unenlightened few
We would have World peace and harmony if everybody were like you.

At least you stand for something good for the Stateless refugees
Who flee their war torn Homelands in Unsea-worthy boats across the dangerous seas
In search of a safer haven for themselves and their family
The people we imprison and strip them of their humanity.

At least you stand for something good you rally against war
And for to march in a peace parade no journey for you too far
Your voice may seem a tiny voice compared to the angry pro war crowd
But they only stand for destruction though their voices ring loud.

At least you stand for something good and by example you lead
'Tis a privilege to know one like you and more like you we need
And though your name may never appear on a memorial wall
At least you stand for something good Justice and a fair go for all.
