At The End Of The Day

What will you say at the end of the day,
When all that you know has flitted away,
When all that you love has fluttered and strayed,
And nothing is left but the stench of the grave?

Where will you go at the end of the road,
When your body can’t help you to carry the load,
When you find yourself lost without any abode,
And you’ve thought of all things in all manner and mode?

I know what I’ll do in my final great hour—
I will climb to the top of the world’s tallest tower,
And shout to the sky with my passion and power,
“I love you! I love you! My angel! My flower! ”
