Emily Martin (June 3,1997)
At The Time
At the time I thought it was the right thing to do.
I went and told you there could never be a ‘me and you'.
You told me you were sorry and that you would change.
And I told you that you were deranged.
I looked into your eyes one last time before I walked away.
You yelled 'No! Don't go! Stay!
A month later I asked myself 'What did I do? '
I ran and ran until I reached you house so I could tell you...
'I made a huge mistake! I love you and I need you in my life! '
'Take me back? Stay with me? Be my wife? '

What a great friend you are.
It has that nursery rhyme-rhyme sound which makes me hope the poem has a happy ending. Its notable that everything turns around in this poem; the claims, the blames and the names. Not bad methinks.
