Auntie’s Baby Poem by Jamieka Holmes

Auntie’s Baby

I’m in love with a man only 2 feet tall
A heart full of gold and a smile that beats all

He still plays with his toys and drinks out his cupee
Every now and then he cries for his mommy

He sleeps in his crib and hangs with his boys
He wanders around without a care in this world

Still dribbles and snores and sometimes wets the bed
But despite all that he still stays in my head

So sweet, so cute, so lovable to a fault
The slightest smile he shows gives my heart a jolt

When he spoke his first words and yelled out my name
I can’t help but smile and be glad he came.

He’s auntie’s baby, number 2, deuce to you.
The only man that I’ve given my heart to

Auntie loves her baby no doubt in that
He’s the love of my life and that’s a fact!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I was inspired to write this poem when my nephew was born. He was just the most gorgeous little chocolate drop I'd ever seen!
