Autumn Poem by Alejandro Torres

Autumn

Your eyes are limitless
And what I fear
The most
Can you see my future
My end
Will I be over when you blink
Those beautiful eyes
That hypnotize
You’ve become the thief
Running off with my heart
In the middle of the day
In plain sight
Courageous lover
Make me fall
All the more
With your outlandish deeds
Claim me false
And watch everyone turn
A blind eye
You always had a way
With fools and harlots
The likes that I would never know
But simply out of the blue
I saw the smile
In your open gleaming eyes
And fell faster than the sky
On a somber July day
Oh how the end was more near
Than the last of your breaths
That skittered across my cheek
But you made my end
When I last saw
You close those brown hues
And turn away
With my soul
Heavily in tow
In the afternoon sun
Of the very last
Autumn day
