Autumn Respite

There is an intense sensation of alteration
an utterance of emotion
as the premiere leaves
descend amongst our feet.
Soon a serene autumnal mood overcomes us.
Departed, yet exuberant are their hue
dry yet suffused with
intoxicating crystals of dew.
The tree from which they were created
will now assume a respite ‘till the Spring.
