Gee Thomas. I wish I'd said that :) We old Thomas' carry the same themes in their head. I enjoyed your take on the season of mellow fruitfulness. (Report) Reply

Love the rhythm and tempo of this poem and the way the leaves just fall into my mind, as I suddenly age in time. (Report) Reply

I really love this one Thomas. Just as the leaves
fall during Autumn so does the days of our lives
drift away. Just like the many colors so are the many
changes in our lives. I invite you to read my poem
Just Imagine. Thanks for sharing this beauty. (Report) Reply

The manipulation of Grammar is good as the verb inflection -ed has turned the noun into an adjective...autumned days...herein lies the whole expression...this is an autumn painting one can guess n visualize by the shades of autumn colors...the effect is the same as Keats: where are the songs of spring? Ay, where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too...so falling of the days as autumned....is no tragedy...but ACCEPTANCE! (Report) Reply

Time flies so fast.....and the vernal green changes to autumn's amber and gold to be blown down finally to the ground by the autumnal blast...... that's the irrevocable law... We have to accept it ! The sad refrain of this poem is so moving.... A great one! (Report) Reply

lovely picture, sad refrain, too bad you can't see the richness in the colours and the gold within. (Report) Reply

poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
