Awaken! My Prince Poem by Iwamoyo Kayode

Awaken! My Prince

Lit your room with light and arise
Drive out the darkness along with your laziness
Call back your wandering soul with all open eyes
Shake off the pleasure with all its drunkenness

You’re the Prince, friend. Awaken now and be amazing
Great words about you unknown to your ignorant mind
Is there any other way to help, my Prince to keep blazing?
I long to see the greatness in you, just like a gold mine

Raise now the lazy hands and show forth great works
You were never a puny nor slave to another
Lift now the dizzy head and fit your mouth with fair words
The Rule is yours if diligence isn’t left to another.

You can forgo the sweetness of sleep, my Prince
The hands aren’t lacking in strength either.
Just a little while, you’ll find a sweeter one, Oh Prince
In your world, none is better than you altogether.

I give these words to encourage and call you out of complacency and to become better than where and who you have been especially what you can do. It has always been in you to be great and a prince or a princess in your world. Drive yourself to excellence and be the best that you can be and show forth beautiful skills in all that you do.
I believe everyone has their throne to sit upon in whatever field or career they might find themselves. Bring the best out, it’s all within you.
Stand out, my Prince.
