Awakening Poem by Kathy Lippard Cobb

Awakening

Beneath snowy fire,
the wildflowers sleeping
in earth-quilted beds,
tucked away for safekeeping.

An icy wind howls
almost as if weeping–
from beneath a thawed patch,
a stray daisy peeping.
