Baba Wam' Ufuna Ilobola Poem by Margaret Kollmer

Baba Wam' Ufuna Ilobola

I know a man so very wonderful, so good and fine
I know I very much-a wanting him-a to be mine
He very strong and very mighty like makulu ox
And he also very funny in his bedtime sox.

Chorus: Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to marry hi-im
Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to mar-ry him.

This man is standing very high and he is Oh so tall
He gotta muscles big and round jus’ like a socca ball
His eyes they shining like a di’mond in the sky at night
He say Bafana gonna win and maybe he is right!

Chorus: Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to marry hi-im
Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to mar-ry him.

Maybe he give to baba wami plenty cow and goat
Maybe he also give his pinky-pinky blanket coat
Maybe he also give some mali then we all can sing
Cos Baba wami like to think he is important king.

Chorus: Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to marry hi-im
Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to mar-rry him.

But Baba wami wait awhile…. because I think I see
Another very big madoda just as fine as he
This man is also very good and no he ask me not
To tell him how much plenty boodle baba wami got.

Chorus: Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to marry hi-im
Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to ma-a-rry him.

Oh, Baba wam’.. I should have listened, yes, to Baba’s words
Cos only you could see that he was just… one ….of the birds..
He is Samantha, Baba wami, but he say he Sam
So go on help me Baba, find me yet another man.

Chorus: Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to marry hi-im
Baba wam’ ufuna ilobola
I’m a-want to ma-a-rry him.
