Bad Habits Poem by Bambi Vetti

Bad Habits

Your eyes scream depressed
Your lips deny it
Your heart wouldn’t beat
If it was something we could see

Your body won’t fight
Your mind won’t give up
Call me a liar
But I’m calling your bluff

Your bones ache
You’re impaired
You’re losing focus
You’re losing air

You can’t eat
You don’t sleep
You deprive yourself
Of everything you need

You attempt to dry your tears
You fall to your knees
You hide from the world
Hide from your fears

You pound the pavement
You rip out your lungs
Your skin burns
You can’t kick bad habits

How much does a heart weigh?
When it’s shattered into pieces
Just surrender
Give up the fight

You’re in combat
In between you and yourself
You always win the battle
But you’ll always lose the war

You
You and your
Bad habits
