Badger And The Jazz Musicians Poem by Justine Camacho Tajonera

Badger And The Jazz Musicians

He looks surreptitiously
when he sees one of them
hoist a violin.
Over baked potato
and iced tea
he has a faraway
expression as he
listens to this
different
sound.
He nods his head,
and jumps,
marches,
his smile
as joyful
as the music.
By the time
he attacks
his carrot
cake
in time
to the beat
of the
song
I know his
musical soul
is
full.
