Band Of Brothers Poem by Devan Marie Edwards

Band Of Brothers

Rating: 5.0

Wires laying across the floor, one trips as they walk in to the room
And laughter is never a question
Two pick up their guitars to strum the strings
One sits to strike on the drums
The other locates his mic to shake the ears of whose listening
Music distracts in the background
Thoughts hover in the air
Smoke effervesces from ones lips
Talking about what use to be and what is
Heads bang simultaneously to the beat of the next song
Lick their lips to wrap them around the rim of their beer to chug
Open the door of the fridge to see there's only one left and it's known there will be another beer run
Getting work done is hard because they relish on each others company
But they eventually have to depart knowing they'll see each other the next night
.....
People squeeze around the stage to jump with excitement as these men put on a show
As the last song ends they advance off stage, wrap their arms around each others shoulders and share their love
Another shot ordered, another great night, another audience pleased
Recognizing that the night is over, packing up their equipment, they all at one point in time look up at the stage
Whether ones hands are caressing the strings of a guitar, or pounds on the drums, or sings their heart out they see a family will always remain.
