Bao Bei Poem by Vincent Gogh

Bao Bei

Our friendship is like treasure,
Though it doesn't sparkle or shine,
It's still makes a person feel rich.

I remember like it was just yesterday.

On that hot semi-summer day.
In that field; on a trip to find enjoyment.
With enemies and friends by our sides.
I saw you and me.

We were contemplating on the same thought.
Because a wonderful treasure happened.
Wonderful indeed; made me gleeful.
Subconsciencely or not.
Doesn’t matter if you made the move first, or me.
Who cares if I stood still?
Or that you opened your arms?
Just that a remarkable miracle happened.

I saw you and me.
With enemies and friends by our sides.
In that field; on a trip to find enjoyment.
On that hot semi-summer day.

I remember like it was just yesterday.

We have not been through a lot like most people.
But the time we spent together counts.
I don't understand what great power,
Draws us together,
Brings us joy,
Makes us chipper,
But I will rephrase:
Treasure is like our friendship.
