Be Free Already Poem by Jay Lukaksi

Be Free Already

If our love was a bird in its cage,
You would be the bird,
I would be the cage.
And now that I have opened my arms,
the door,
why wont you leave.
Fly!
Fly away from me!
Your beautiful feathers,
your beautiful face....
It tortures me to know that
I cannot own them.
That I cant love them
the way I wish I could.

I'm done dealing with your
games.
Its like we were playing monopoly.
If you were the player,
and my love was the property.
You bought it.
But now?
I'm tired of being another
piece.

I don't want you in my heart anymore.
I don't want you in my life.
Too harsh, you say?
And taking my heart and
constantly playing
tug of war with it
wasn't?
Exactly.

So many times you have made me second guess myself.
My looks.
What I should like.
I'm glad I didn't change for you.
I'm glad that thought never came to mind.
Because that would have been a waste of time.
But I did waste time.
On you.

Please, bird.
I beg of you.
Leave me already.
Be free already.
I cant take care of you the way I wish I could.
And I cant keep wishing for you.
I cant keep killing my heart over you.

So its time to put the chains back on
time to lock up my heart.
Thanks to you,
trying to take my heart is going to be a million times harder
For everyone else.
Thanks to you.
You.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I found this poem, well the first line, in my notebook. I realized that I needed to finish it. So here it is. My sadness, my regret, my similes. All thrown in one. Yet, he doesn't know. Why would he? He never cared anyways....
