Beads, Braids And Brides Poem by Maureen Alikor

Beads, Braids And Brides

Give me my braids,
make me purple beads
watch me blink my eyelids
as I follow your leads.

Give me more braids,
and see newly wed brides
hide behind the curtain blinds
when they see our minds.

Give me braided beads
tie them around my waist
as I wriggle to the dance tunes you play.

Give me more beads,
let them grace my ankles
as I step into our castle of love.

Give me beads.
Give me braids.
I am your bride
And yours alone to tend.
