Beautiful Dryad Poem by Maurice Rowlands

Beautiful Dryad

Look up into the trees
Feel the sun in your eyes
The shadow of a starling
Caressing your cheeks
Feel the soft summer breeze
There’s a beautiful dryad
Who sits in the trees

She plays with her hair
Feel her joy in your eyes
The shadow of this darling
Caressing your cheeks
Feel her soft sylvan stare
This beautiful dryad
She smiles through her hair

Then, her smile is gone
Feel her fear in your eyes
The shadow of the starling
Caressing her cheeks
You feel suddenly alone
The beautiful dryad
Has gone
