Beauty Within Me(For Angie On Reading Her Poetry) Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Beauty Within Me(For Angie On Reading Her Poetry)

Rating: 4.1

You have left
your beauty within me

(as if asleep)

and it awakens
now in mind

as if grass glistening
after rain

more green than green

an unseen
seen

your laughter

like birds
leaving a sky empty

filled now with both

their absence & their presence

your voice

like fallen snow
becoming everything it touches

that quiet whiteness

your words
a trail of footprints

... you have left...
(your beauty within me)

and I strive to be
worthy of...it’s blossoming.

Dear Miss Muse, as promised a poem that tries to capture the beauty of your poems but...fails miserably. But don’t despair of me as yet for you still blossom within me and you never know…I might… just …get.... … there…one day. Who knows? In the meantime(no please don’t hold your breath) thank you for being...Angie.

Like wow! This is absolutely gorgeous! What a lucky lucky Ange to draw this out of you but then she is that good and...more! She's just soooooooooooo great but then...so are you. And this proves it. The imagery is just sumptuous and strikes sparks off the soul. Captures that special something that just can't be put into words. As a poem I love it and as a homage to Queen Angie it just abouts does her justice.Good try but then when you get to her level she...just pulls ahead again and so on and so on for ever. Not bad for a guy though...only joking. I think that you and Angie and Helen are the top three poets on this site that will always excite my imagination with what you are capable of doing and how well you do it! Love ya all for being brave enough to be your selves and what wonderful selves you are! Don't I wish my poetry were a lot like you! love Debbie Debs

Oh you are worthy indeed! A beauty to describe another beauty...a white into white. Such beautiful striking imagery of the there yet not there...it trancends and forges yet more beauty in the space in between. I especially love the voice as leaving a trail of footprints in the snow. You will now leave your beauty within anyone who reads this poem that captures both the you and Angie in one startling moment. A really beautiful beautifull poem. simply gorgeous! love GinaXXX
