Before Poem by Uriah Hamilton

Before

I wander the grey city
and dimly lit streets
praying to departed spirits
of unconditional love
that need neither sacrifices
nor oblations
nor offerings of false piety.

Why is the multitude
so lonely
down these death valleys
and dark corridors of defeat?

I am full of desire
to extinguish
a negative existence
and light a candle of hope.

If you see me,
shake my hand,
I'm not who
I was before.
