Before Her Little Hands Poem by Brian Kilpatrick

Before Her Little Hands

You lent me an angel
To soften my hardened heart
Before her little hands
My heart it fell apart
She turned my heart into marbles
Too numerous to count
And after years and years of play
She began to cry
And my heart it turned to clay
After countless years
And countless tears
I became putty in her hands
But one day she no longer came to play
And my heart it turned to sand
